Darien Town Capital Projects Removed Over State Budget Woes

Darien stands to lose more than $1 million in state aid due to a budget constraints, which has forced town officials to act.

DARIEN, CT- Town elected officials opted to remove some capital projects until it is known how much Darien's share of state aid will be cut.

Under current proposals Darien would lose $1.3 million in state aid, according to Darien Times.

The Board of Finance removed several capital projects including a new generator at town hall, storage facility at Darien High School, carpet replacement at Middlesex Middle School and truck replacement for the Board of Education.

Officials noted that capital projects could easily be added back into the budget if a lesser share of state aid were cut. It is easier than reducing operational budgets.
