Darien Traffic Stop Ends With Marijuana Arrest: Cops
Police were assisted by K-9 officer "Kenny," who conducted a "free air sniff" outside of the vehicle.

DARIEN, CT — A 37-year-old Stamford man was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over by Darien police because the temporary license plate on the car he was driving had an obscured expiration date, according to authorities.
Johnson Paulemon, of Raymond Street, was first spotted on the Post Road, but was pulled over by Darien police on I-95 southbound near exit 10.
After pulling over Paulemon just before 1 p.m. on July 27, officers discovered that his license had been suspended "for several years and he has been charged for driving with a suspended license numerous times." The passenger in the car was the vehicle's owner and showed proper paperwork that verified ownership and that car was registered.

"Both Paulemon and the passenger were advised that Darien Police K-9 'Kenny' would be conducting a 'free air sniff' of the exterior of the vehicle and were asked to exit," wrote police in a statement. "During the 'free air sniff, K-9 Kenny alerted to the presence of narcotic odor on the driver’s side door. An interior search of the vehicle produced a glass pipe containing suspected marijuana residue, and multiple packages of cigar wrappers typically used to smoke marijuana."
The passenger was released with the vehicle and Paulemon was placed under arrest. While being searched at Darien police headquarters, officers found five plastic baggies containing a total of 5.79 grams of green plant-like material in Paulemon's possession which tested positive as marijuana.
