DARIEN, CT — Darien is looking to update its Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) after it was first established in 2016.

A POCD serves as the guiding light and vision for the town on land use issues, and it contains "goals, policies, and recommendations for investing in the physical, economic, and environmental aspects of a community in accordance with that vision," the most recent newsletter from the town said.

Connecticut requires municipalities to update their existing POCD at least every decade.

"Updating and adopting a new POCD entails extensive work and relies heavily on input from residents and key community stakeholders. The Planning and Zoning Commission, with the approval of the Board of Selectmen, has retained the firm H&H to consult throughout the process," the town said in its recent newsletter.

Work on developing the 2026 POCD is expected to take approximately 16 months.
