Darien Welcomes New Police Officer To Ranks

The Darien Police Department held a brief swearing-in ceremony Tuesday morning.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department on Tuesday welcomed a new police officer into the ranks.

Breann Joyce was sworn in by Darien Police Commissioner Kevin Cunningham and presented her badge by Chief Don Anderson in a brief ceremony at police headquarters. Joyce comes to Darien after serving as an officer in Monroe for two years.

Joyce graduated from Trumbull High School in 2009 and attended Springfield College, where she was captain of the softball team, according to an announcement from the DPD. She graduated in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in movement and sports studies with a minor in athletic coaching.

Before she began a career in law enforcement, Joyce worked as a physical education teacher and coached multiple sports, including at the collegiate level at both Brandeis University in Massachusetts and Yale University in New Haven.
