Darien Woman Arrested on DUI Charge in Westport: Police

The 25-year-old suspect was pulled over early Wednesday.

WESTPORT, CT — A 25-year-old Darien woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol early Wednesday on Riverside Avenue in Westport, according to police.

Kathryn Velesbir was spotted at about 2 a.m. driving a gray Toyota north on Riverside allegedly at a high rate of speed, and she was subsequently pulled over.

"The interior of the vehicle smelled of an odor of an alcoholic beverage," police wrote in a statement. "Velesbir’s speech was slow and slurred and her eyes were glassed over. Velesbir was administered the Standard Field Sobriety Tests which she failed."

She was taken into custody, and while at police headquarters, her breath test "showed [her blood alcohol level] was over the legal limit," according to police though officers did not disclose what that level was.

She was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Jan. 13.
