Darien Woman Charged Following Bicycle Mishap In New Canaan: Cops

It started when motorists complained to police about how the cyclist was riding.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 36-year-old Darien bicyclist, who motorists complained about to police, was arrested on a charge of interfering with an officer on Sept. 9 after she allegedly refused to cooperate with questioning from New Canaan police officers.

Adaobi N. Kurylov, of Camp Avenue, was stopped by New Canaan police on Smith Ridge Road just after 2 p.m. after police were called to the area on a report of a dispute between a motorist and a bicyclist.

"The dispute stemmed from the bicyclist, Kurylov, riding in the middle of the travel lane and obstructing vehicles from driving around her," wrote New Canaan police in a statement.

After officers caught up to Kurylov, she allegedly "failed to cooperate in any capacity, refusing to provide any identification or her name." She also allegedly tried to ride off during the interview.

Kurylov was eventually brought to police headquarters and charged. She was released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 22.
