The Darien YMCA is excited to announce the newest addition to the Piranha swim team coaching staff, Michael Jordan.
Michael was a four year Division II All-American swimmer, and a New England Champion and record holder during his time at Southern Connecticut State University, and is recognized as an ASCA Level III coach. Prior to joining the Piranha swim team, Jordan was the Head Developmental Coach at Norwalk Zeus from 2012-14, where he coached kids 6-12 years of age, and assisted the Head Coach with the senior training program. Jordan spent two years as the Assistant Head Coach at the Trumbull Pisces from 2011-12, and was the Swim Team Director at the Jewish Community Center in Bridgeport from 2005-11. He was also the Aquatics Director at the Lawrence, Massachusetts YWCA for two years prior to 2005.
Current Piranha head coach Henk Jansen said of Jordan, “Michael has an impressive aquatic background from his days as a swimmer growing up at the YMCA in Danvers, Mass., to his coaching and Aquatic Director days over the years.” Jordan has coached countless CT Age Group and CT Senior qualifiers and, according to Jansen, “brings a wealth of swimming and coaching knowledge to the Piranhas.”
