Darien/New Caanan Jr. Legion to Face Middletown
The team's first round game of the state play-in tournament is set for Friday at 3:30 p.m.
No. 26 Darien/New Canaan will face no. 23 Middletown on Friday, according to pairings released Wednesday afternoon for the Junior American Legion Baseball state play-in tournament.
Darien/New Canaan, which finished 15-12 and tied for fourth with Ridgefield in Zone Four, will face off at 3:30 p.m. Middletown placed fourth in Zone Three with a 15-9 record.
The winner of this game will play at Windsor Locks (19-5), the zone eight runner-up, Saturday at noon.

A total of 31 teams qualified for the eventjunior tournament, with the eight zone winners receiving double byes into the third round of the play-in tournament. They need to win only one game to advance to the main bracket, which is an eight-team, single elimination event.
The final tournament is set to be played in Windsor Locks starting Wednesday, July 28.
