Dates Set In Darien For Opening/Closing Of Gorham's Pond Gates
The tide gates are scheduled to be flushed and cleaned.
DARIEN, CT — The Gorham’s Pond Tide Gates are set to be flushed and cleaned this fall on between the following dates in November, Darien officials announced:
- Opened on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018; and,
- Closed on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018.
"Tide gates cannot be operated following extensive rain events or a series of very high tides because of the large volume of water flowing over the dam," wrote officials in a statement. "The opening or closing of gates may be delayed dependent on weather."
