'Days and Days of Gloom' in Connecticut's Extended May Weather Forecast
The extended forecast for May has been released and if you were hoping for summer weather you'll be disappointed. Here's the latest.

Well it could be worse right? We could be facing snow and freezing temps, but the extended forecast for at least the first half of May for Connecticut is not going to come close to feeling like summer is around the corner.
According to two Connecticut meteorologists we’re in for an extended cold stretch and we could see several bouts of rain and thunderstorms, especially on Friday as over an inch of a soaking, cold rain is expected.
The long-range weather forecast shows many days in the 50s to near 60 degrees and the sun will only appear sporadically as well. Connecticut could also see several days in a row where showers and rain are expected. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons offers us some good news about the weather today saying clouds and showers will depart this morning.
“Get outside this afternoon for sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. It will be windy though! Heavy rain on Friday followed by a cloudy and chilly pattern into the weekend,” Simmons wrote.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote, “Still looks good for a soaker on Friday - well over an inch of rain and the potential for a bit of flooding.”
Hanrahan in a blog post for NBC Connecticut studied the forecast models for the first half of May and the news is not good. He detailed that Connecticut is facing “cut-off lows” and what that means is “days and days of gloom.”
“What doe it mean for us? An extended period of clouds, chilly temperatures, rain, and possibly even thunderstorms and small hail,” Hanrahan wrote on his blog.

The National Weather Service’s forecast for the next seven days serves to underscore Hanrahan’s analysis.
Yes, today we’ll see afternoon sun and temps into the mid 70s, but on Wednesday it’s back to around 60 degrees but still partly sunny.
Thursday features plenty of clouds and temps near 60 degrees and then the heavy rain is in the forecast for Friday, which spills over into Saturday. There will be clearing on Saturday afternoon but temps only around 60 degrees.
On Sunday we may see more showers too, again with temps stuck near 60 degrees. More showers are possible on Monday, but temps only in the upper 50s.
And the Weather Channel offers a very grim weather picture beginning from Tuesday, May 9 to Tuesday, May 16. According to their long-range forecast, it’s possible we could see some rain on each of those days. Temps struggle to reach the 60s most days and thunderstorms are possible too on several days, according to their forecast.

After enduring weeks of colder temps and lots of rain hopefully we’re due for an amazing Memorial Day weekend weather forecast.
