Decision Reached Regarding Darien Police Body Cameras
The program would cost $87,000 in the first year.

DARIEN, CT — Police officers in Darien will soon begin wearing body cameras, following a unanimous decision Monday by the Board of Selectmen.
A total of 48 officers will receive cameras, at a cost of about $87,000 for the first year, reports Darienite.com. The town stands to receive money from the state to help defray the first-year expenditure.
After the first year, the cost drops to just under $65,000. State officials are pushing for local municipalities to outfit their police departments with the equipment.
