Decorate a Bra for a Good Cause in Darien

Nielsen’s Florist and Bras for a Cause are teaming up to raise awareness for cancer.

Paint the Town Pink organizes and supports local events throughout October, National Breast Cancer Awareness month, in order to increase awareness for breast cancer and stress the importance of screening and early detection of the disease. As part of Hope in Motion, the Hospital’s ongoing campaign to support the programs and services at the Bennett Cancer Center, all proceeds from Paint the Town Pink events will be used to help provide free screening mammograms for low-income women who are uninsured or underinsured, as well as for ongoing educational breast cancer programs.

Now to the fun part, last year Nielsen’s Florist raised $2500 with the help of many talented and creative ladies who submitted wonderfully decorated bras to raise money for the cause.

The concept for Bras for a Cause is simple: decorate a bra to your taste and submit it to Nielsen’s Florist by Monday, September 28, along with your name and email address.

All of the decorated bras will then be unveiled at a gallery-style showing on Wednesday, September 30, to kick off Paint the Town Pink. Guests will be encouraged to vote on the bras in person and show support by voting for a favorite entry online. Two winners will be selected to win great prizes, one based on votes and one picked by First Selectman Jayme Stevenson. Two runners up will also receive prizes.

With support from Serendipity magazine and Andrew Stefanou Salon & Spa, you can be sure this is the perfect ladies night to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month! Get the girls together to decorate bras, bring your best girlfriends to the event or just turn up, pick your favorite bras and cast your vote!
