Details Announced For Darien's Annual Flag Day Ceremony

Flag Day will be observed on Wednesday, June 14.

DARIEN, CT — Darien's Monuments and Ceremonies Commission along with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6933 will host the town's annual Flag Day ceremony on June 14.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. at Veterans Circle in front of Darien Town Hall. Veterans and residents will recite the poem "I Am Your Flag."

The Board of Selectmen and the VFW Color Guard will participate as old flags are collected and retired and a new flag is presented and hung on the Town Hall flagpole.

VFW members will then execute the ceremonial flag folding.

Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which occurred on June 14, 1777.
