Details On Darien's Memorial Day Veterans Ceremony
The ceremony is slated for 11:30 a.m., on May 29, in Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery in Darien.
DARIEN, CT — Darien's annual Memorial Day parade is scheduled for Monday, May 29, at 10 a.m. Following the parade will be a formal dedication ceremony to honor those who gave their lives in service to the country.
Put on by the Darien Monuments & Ceremonies Commission, the ceremony is slated for 11:30 a.m. in Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery located at 41 Hecker Ave.

Parade Grand Marshal Capt. Bruce Kinloch, USMC (Retired), will lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Christopher Andrade’s Tudor Singers’ presentation of The Star Spangled Banner.
There will also be a recitation of General John A. Logan’s order No. 11, and President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, before First Selectman Monica McNally reads the names of the 92 Darien residents who lost their lives in wartime.

Kevin M. Callahan, author of "Brothers In Arms - Remembering Brothers Buried Side-by-Side in American World War II Cemeteries," will deliver the keynote speech prior to the laying of the commemorative wreaths around the Karl Lang flagpole.
There will be a military salute performed by the VFW Post 6933 Honor Guard.
The ceremony will conclude with Taps, played by Brandon Holbrook, Lt. Commander, US Navy Reserve.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the community room at Darien Library.
Darien police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of Monday's Memorial Day events.
