Norwalk police apprehended the suspects on Thursday in East Norwalk.

DARIEN, CT — Two Norwalk men were apprehended by Norwalk police Thursday in connection with an attempted burglary at a residence on McCrea Lane in Darien, according to Darien police.
News of the capture broke Thursday afternoon, with Norwalk police posting about it on the department's Facebook page.
The incident started at approximately 2:15 p.m. when Darien police were notified of the attempted burglary by the observant homeowner who took a photo of the suspicious van the suspects were driving.

"The homeowner reported that she had been home alone, and heard the doorbell ring several times and noise coming from the first floor," wrote Darien police in a statement. "Looking out the window, the homeowner observed a white van parked in her driveway, and didn't recognize it. She looked into the backyard from a window and observed a male looking into the rear windows of the house. After a short time, the male returned to his van. Prior to the van departing, the resident was able to get a picture of it.
"Once the van was gone, the homeowner went to the first floor of the home where she observed damage to a window in the area where the male had been standing. The window had been closed, but was now open. At this time, the homeowner called 911."

The resident provided Darien police with the photo, and officers broadcast the description and license plate to surrounding towns, and a short while later Norwalk police had already spotted the van.
"While still on scene, Darien Police was notified that Norwalk had located the suspect vehicle, and had the two suspects in custody," wrote Darien police. "Officers responded to the scene and took custody of the two suspects. A search of the vehicle revealed a large kitchen knife with an approximately 8” blade. Other items were located in the van that were determined to be proceeds of a burglary that had taken place in New Canaan on August 16, 2017."
Arrested were Marlo Aguirre, 29, of Testa Place, and Siuni Bonilla, 35, of Ely Avenue. Both were charged with second-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary. Aguirre was additionally charged with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.
Both suspects were held by Darien Police in lieu of $15,000 bonds, and are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 28.
