DHS Ski Team Races Towards States

Girls Qualify for States. 6 Wave athletes in final round for Team Connecticut.

Darien had several standout performances at their January 31st race at Mt. Southington. Sophomore Samantha Lindell took 1st place (48.62) for the third time in four races, junior Devin Hart 2nd (48.72) and junior Lane Anderson 7th (49.43) against a field of 85 other racers. Eliza Spain (26th), Katie Lane (30th), Kylie Morgan (48th) and Sammie Berry (52nd) rounded out the Girls squad. On the boys side Freshman Chase Gulick took 7th (47.04) with sophomore John Fallon 8th (47.27) out of 109 varsity racers. Jackson Bell (26th), Alex Barlow (36th), Folke Bruno (52nd), and Pierce Mason (68th) followed.

The Wave Girls Ski Team has now qualified for the State Open. The DHS Boys need a solid performance this week to qualify.

Darien had 6 racers selected to compete in the CISL Giant Slalom Shootout for a chance to earn a spot on Team Connecticut. Team Connecticut is comprised of the 12 top girls and 12 top boys in the state; and goes on to compete against 12 other states in the Eastern Championships in New Hampshire in March. All 6 Darien racers advanced to the final round, the Slalom Shootout which is made up of the remaining top 30 racers in the state. Qualifiers on the girls side were: Devin Hart 3rd (50.10), Samantha Lindell 6th (50.67) and Lane Anderson 9th (51.50). Qualifiers on the boys side: Chase Gulick 8th (49.15), John Fallon 14th (49.71) and Jackson Bell 27th (50.56).

Team Connecticut will be announced the week of February 5th following the Slalom Shootout.
