DHS Student, a Young Japanese and American Author, Publishes First Book
DHS Senior Christine Mari will talk Saturday, Nov. 15, at Barrett Bookstore about her book of drawings and prose about a trip to Japan.

Darien High School Senior Christine Mari Inzer has written a graphic memoir with her drawings and prose, titled “Halfway Home: Drawing My Way Through Japan” and based on a trip to Japan, where she was born, according to an article in New Canaan/Darien magazine.
Her mother is Japanese and her father, American, and Inzer says she identifies herself as both Japanese and American, although living in America means it’s harder to stay in touch with her Japanese side.
The book takes readers on the visit, including a visit to the Temple of the Golden Pavilion and encounters with Japanese culture and life. “Inzer manages to be relatable, charming and vibrant, all at once,” writes David Podgurski, who wrote the article.
