Dispute Breaks Out At Darien Chipotle Over Cup Fee, Woman Charged: PD
Police said a woman began yelling and throwing cups inside the restaurant after being told she needed to pay for an empty cup.

DARIEN, CT — A Stamford woman was arrested last week after Darien police say she caused a disturbance at Chipotle over being asked to pay for an empty cup.
The woman, 29, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, police said. She was issued a misdemeanor summons and released on a written promise to appear in court.
On May 8, police officers responded to the Chipotle on the Post Road in Darien on a report of a verbal altercation.

The arrestee told police she was picking up a delivery and asked an employee for an empty cup, and an argument began after she was asked to pay for it, police said. The employee said the woman got upset, came behind the counter and began yelling, police added.
According to a witness, the arrestee began throwing cups as she was yelling at the employee, which was confirmed when officers reviewed video of the incident.

The arrestee is scheduled to appear in court on May 22.
