Darien Schools Investigating 'Serious' Allegations Related To Holocaust Lesson

Superintendent of Darien Public Schools Dr. Alan Addley said in an email to families the investigation is related to a middle school lesson.

DARIEN, CT — Superintendent of Darien Public Schools Dr. Alan Addley said Friday evening the district is investigating "serious" allegations related to a lesson on the Holocaust at Middlesex Middle School.

"Given that the investigation is ongoing and students are involved, I cannot share specific information about this matter with our community," Addley said in an email to families.

Addley noted he had received questions from the school community about the lesson.

"When we receive reports that students or others in our school community have been made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe for any reason, we act promptly to review and address those concerns while supporting those affected," Addley continued. "Maintaining a safe school environment free from antisemitism and other forms of hate is our top priority in the Darien Public Schools."

Families whose children may need support should reach out to their building principal who can then connect with a school counselor or other trusted adult, Addley said.
