Drunk Driver's Dumpster Run Ends In DUI Charge: Darien Police
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Nov. 25.

DARIEN, CT — A 28-year-old Stamford man was arrested on charge of driving under the influence in Darien just after 1 a.m. on Nov. 25 after he dumped garbage behind a Post Road business near Corbin Drive, according to Darien police.
While on patrol, an officer spotted Jose Marcos-Melchor, of Puritan Lane, drive his vehicle behind the business, get out and throw garbage into a dumpster. As Marcos-Melchor was leaving, the officer pulled him over.
While speaking with Marcos-Melchor, the officer "noted the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating" from Marcos-Melchor.

"When asked, [Marcos-Melchor] admitted to consuming alcohol earlier but gave varying accounts of how much," stated Darien police.
Marcos-Melchor failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was placed under arrest. While at police headquarters, he refused to submit to breathalyzer testing.

He was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 4.
