DUI Arrest For Norwalk Man: Darien Police

The suspect told police that "he had 'one martini' with his lunch."

DARIEN, CT — A 62-year-old Norwalk man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence on June 7 after a witness allegedly saw him operating his minivan erratically on the Post Road near Cross Street in Darien, according to police.

Kelvin Lee Kostohryz, of Oldfield Road, was pulled over by Darien officers at about 6:30 p.m., and the officers "immediately detected" the odor of alcohol emanating from him.

"Officers report it was difficult to understand [Kostohryz] as he spoke, due to his slurred speech," wrote Darien police in a statement. "When asked for his license, [Kostohryz] provided officers with several credit cards before locating his license. When asked if he had consumed any alcohol, [Kostohryz] stated he had 'one martini' with his lunch.

At Darien police headquarters, Kostohryz's first blood alcohol test sample, taken at about 7:30 p.m., was registered at .2137, and about 15 minutes later it registered at .1978, according to police.
