DUI Charge For Norwalk Woman In Darien: Police
The incident occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 20.

DARIEN, CT — A 24-year-old Norwalk woman, who allegedly sped through a construction zone on the Post Road in Darien, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence on Oct. 20, according to police.
Stephanie Canales, of Silvermine Avenue, was pulled over by police near the intersection of Old Kings Highway South at about 2:45 a.m.
"The suspect vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed through the area, near construction equipment and personnel," wrote Darien police in a statement. "The officer paced the vehicle at 45mph, and observed it cross over the divider line into the closed portion of the roadway. A motor vehicle stop was conducted. The officer made contact with the vehicle’s operator, identified as Stephanie Canales, and immediately detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her person."

After allegedly failing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Canales was taken in custody. At police headquarters, she submitted to breathalyzer testing, which measured her BAC to be 0.148 at [3:20 a.m.], and 0.128 at [3:41 a.m.], according to Darien police.
Canales was released after posting a $200 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 30.
