Off-Duty Darien Sergeant Saves Choking Woman: Report

The incident occurred last month at a restaurant in New York.

DARIEN, CT — Veteran Darien Police Sgt. T.J. Moore was having dinner with family at a restaurant in Suffern, NY, on May 27 when his quick actions saved a choking woman, reports the Darien Times.

Moore performed the Heimlich maneuver on the 60-ish woman as soon as he saw her in distress, and had to pull the move three or four times before the food was dislodged from her throat.

His actions were praised by his father, 22-year Connecticut State Police veteran Tom Moore, and Darien Police Chief Ray Osborne.
