Off-Duty Darien Police Smelled of Alcohol, Warrant Says
The two police officers were involved in an off-duty gun incident Aug. 1.

The odor of alcohol was detected from both Darien police officers arrested for an off-duty gun incident.
The Darien Times reported it obtained the warrant application which contained statement from Connecticut state troopers about the alcohol odor.
The application serves to give an overview of the investigation into the Aug. 1 shooting incident, the Times said.
Police had received a report of shots fired that date in Darien.

An unoccupied vehicle which James Martin owned and was parked in his driveway was found with severals gun shots to the exterior.
Martin and fellow suspect Daniel Ehret, both 10-year veterans of the Darien Police Department, turned themselves in.

They were both charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree bread of peace and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
The men face a maximum penalty of $1,000 fine or six months in jail, the Times said.
