April 18th Master Class with Maestro Eckart Preu, with special guest, Violinist Nigel Armstrong

The DCA is delighted to present a Master Class with Maestro Eckart Preu and violinist Nigel Armstrong on Thursday, April 18th at 7:30pm.

Music Director of both the Stamford Symphony and the Spokane Symphony, Eckart Preu brings a vitality to orchestration which has been widely recognized. Henry Fogel, of the League of American Orchestras, comments: “Eckart Preu is one of the most impressive talents in the group of younger conductors working today in America. He… conducts with elegance, style, and intensity.” The maestro’s career highlights include two Carnegie Hall performances, a performance at the Sorbonne in Paris, and a live broadcast with the Jerusalem Symphony in 2005.

Maestro Preu comments, “I hate very stuffy, formal atmospheres. When I go to a concert, I want to have fun and feel good.”

In this master class, Maestro Preu will offer insights into his passion for music which has made him an international favorite. To highlight key points, he will turn to the piano, as well as to his guest, violinist Nigel Armstrong.

Mr. Armstrong is attracting attention in his own right in classical music circles, and seen as one to watch.  Nigel established an international presence as a finalist in the 14th Tchaikovsky International Competition in 2011, where he was the highest ranked American prizewinner, and won a special prize for Best Performance of John Corigliano’s Stomp.
