Darien Arts Center Holds Launch Party for New Group Music Classes

Can children develop musical skills starting from birth? Of course they can! The DAC Music department has expanded its program offering new group classes for newborns through age four. As a special welcome to these new classes, effervescent teacher Deanna Reda will teach complimentary classes with a reception to follow. Parents or caregivers are invited to stay after the classes to enjoy refreshments and conversation about the benefits of early musical experiences with our Music Director, Juanita Bosee.

The new classes include Mommy, Music and Me I and II which invite parents or caregivers along for a lesson in exploring movement and rhythm. Sections are available for newborns to two year olds, and for two through four years old. Younger students utilize motor skills like clapping, patting with songs and stories, and bouncing to songs. The two to four year old section of this class offers an action-packed and energetic exploration of music, including walking, jumping and games developing music and language skills. Preschool Group Music Class, another new addition highlighted at the launch party, enhances children’s school music experience in an environment with friends their own age. A variety of age appropriate music, instruments and stories will be used.

The Launch Party will take place the morning of Tuesday, September 4th at the DAC Weatherstone Studio. The complimentary Mommy Music and Me I  (Birth-2 years) will be from 10:30-11:00, Mommy Music and Me II  (2-4 years) goes from 11:15-11:45, and Preschool Group Music Class (ages 3 and 4) happens 12:00-12:30. To make a reservation for the launch party, or get more information about registration, call the DAC office (203-655-8683).
