Jazz Pianist and Vocalist Katharine Hedlund, a native of Darien, will be a senior at Northwestern University this coming fall, pursuing a degree in Jazz Piano Performance and Economics. A student of Peter Martin and Victor Goines, she has performed at many notable venues around Chicago including the Jazz Showcase, Uncommon Ground, The Tonic Room, Andy's Jazz Club, and the Wilson Center for the Performing Arts in Milwaukee. This past year she performed at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola in New York City and The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Her original song "Shift of Season" was recently featured in a composer's showcase at the legendary Chicago club The Green Mill. Katharine also plays and composes for the unique indie reggae fusion band Fuzzy Moon, and accompanies the great singer-songwriter Christina Trulio. This fall, Katharine will be performing with her group at the Chicago Jazz Festival.
The concert this Friday will be a combination of Brazilian tunes, Vocal Standards and Jazz Standards. Bring your friends, grab a drink at the Melting Pot, and come out for a relaxing summer night of beautiful music!
