Duo Piano Group presents ‘Pianorama!’ at the DCA

On Sunday, April 22 at 4pm the DCA’s Duo Piano group will present ‘Pianorama!’, a concert of two-piano music that highlights the skills of this group of accomplished pianists.

A dazzling variety of compositions will be performed including the sublime Gounod/ Bach "Ave Maria", Albeniz's  fiery "Triana",  Schumann's emotional "Etudes in the Form of a Canon", Caesar Franck's celestial "Prelude,  Fugue, and Variations", and a blockbuster eight-handed "Ragtime Rhapsody" based on Scott Joplin's music.

Tickets are $10.00 for the concert; complimentary wine and snacks will be offered.

Duo Piano Group performing members include Karen Curtin, Maureen DeBoo, Kathy Edwards, Jonathan Thackeray, and Yuki Yamaguchi.  The group is lead by Music Director Sandra Shaw Murphy, with Darwin Shen on Violin.  The Duo Piano Group welcomes performers of varying levels of piano proficiency, and invites those interested in joining to contact Kathy Edwards: (203) 972-3292.

The Duo Piano concert is the first of three key events in the DCA’s ‘Spring in the Garden’ week.  The annual DCA Spring Boutique runs April 25 from 5:30-8:30pm, and April 26 & 27 from 9am-4pm.  Held in the historic Meadowlands property, the boutique offers an intimate gift-buying experience, with no fee for admittance.  The week is then capped off with the ‘Spring in the Garden’ Cocktail Party from 5:30pm on Saturday April 28th.  Held in the formal gardens of the DCA, this final event will raise funds for DCA scholarship programs.
