Keeping the Green in Darien

NIELSEN’S FLORIST AND GARDEN SHOP will host their second St. Patrick’s Day celebration in honor of the Darien Land Trust on Thursday March 15th, 2012.

After a huge success last year, Nielsen’s Florist is looking forward to another fun-filled night of traditional Irish fare, music, shamrocks and raffle prizes. Enjoy a Guinness or two and keep your ears open for the lucky raffle prize winners! All raffle prizes will have a green theme this year, including, a year of green plants, a green birdhouse and other green goodies.  Throughout the day, 20% of sales will go towards the Darien Land Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping the green spaces in Darien. Tickets for the event will be $20, available at the door by cash or check.

St. Patrick’s day and it’s traditional green theme, paired with the Darien Land Trust’s mission to preserve green spaces, is complemented perfectly against the backdrop of the Nielsen’s Florist conservatory. The conservatory is becoming an increasingly popular venue for unique and memorable occasions, beautifully designed using natural foliage and flowers in a way that no other venue can replicate.

The Darien Land Trust and Nielsen’s Florist both have a long-standing relationship with the community and are excited to introduce the Darien High School Eco-Citizens.  Their president, Sarah Graves, will be presenting attendees with alternate ways to dispose of those unnecessary old phones and pieces of technology that pile up in our homes. So, please, feel free to bring that old MP3 player or phone and let them take care of it for you!
