Snowflakes and Pancakes with Bestselling Children's Author Elise Broach

Opus for Person-to-Person, Barrett Bookstore and the Darien Community Association (DCA) will host “Snowflakes and Pancakes,” a family pancake breakfast with The New York Times bestselling author Elise Broach. At the event, Broach will read aloud her latest children’s book to hit the shelves, Snowflake Baby, a story that chronicles a baby’s winter adventures with sleds and snowmen.

At the Snowflakes and Pancakes event, Broach will also read a selection of her popular children’s books and sign copies, which will be available for purchase.

Snowflake Baby is Broach’s second board book that follows Seashore Baby, a rhymed story about an ocean-loving baby that explores the beach alongside an adventurous puppy. Broach has also written several other picture books for children aged 4-8, including When Dinosaurs Come With Everything, Wet Dog and Gumption, which received the Parents’ Choice Awards silver medal for picture books in 2010.

Broach is also the author of several books aimed for 10- to 13-year-olds, including Shakespeare’s Secret and Masterpiece, which made The New York Times’ Bestseller List in 2010. Broach’s Masterpiece also received the E.B. White Award for best read-aloud children’s novel in 2009 from the Association of the Booksellers for Children.

A Connecticut resident and mother of three children, Broach has been writing stories since she, herself, was a child. She wrote her first published children’s story when her youngest daughter was a year old.

"We are happy to be partnering with Barrett Bookstore and the DCA to present this award-winning author, Elise Broach," said Sara Franzese, Co-President of Opus for Person-to-Person. "This is a wonderful opportunity for children of all ages to have an interactive morning with an accomplished author and storyteller.  Families can meet the author and can purchase signed copies of her children’s books in time for the holidays, all while supporting Person-to-Person."

The event will take place at the Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road in Darien.  Tickets are $20 per family in advance and $30 at the door. Space is limited, and advanced ticket purchase is encouraged at www.opus4p2p.org and Barrett Bookstore at Height’s Road in Darien.  All proceeds will benefit Opus for Person-to-Person. This event is open to the public.
