Sports-Related Concussions: The Science Behind the Controversy and Facts Parents Need to Know

With all the talk in the media about concussions, it is getting harder for parents to separate fact from fiction. In this workshop, Dr. Timothy Heitzman, Pediatric Neuropsychologist at The Southfield Center for Development and Dr. Ellen Fahey, Clinical Director of The Concussion Center of Fairfield County, will give parents an up-to-date review of what we know about concussions, including how to define/recognize them, how likely they are to occur, best practices and debates on evaluating, monitoring and treating concussions, issues with returning to play, and the residual effects of head injuries.
