BUZZING AT THE DEPOT
Members of the Student Governing Board at the Depot Youth Center are all "abuzz" about the upcoming third annual community spelling bee to benefit the Depot. This fun-filled event for the entire family will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18 in the Town Hall Auditorium.
Channel 12 News anchors Becky Surran and Tom Appleby will emcee the event. Registration materials can be found on links at the Depot website.

BEE a Participant
Each team of 3 pays a (tax deductible) fee of $150. In the past years we have had teams from many different groups at DHS such as; The Field Hockey Team, The Crew Team, Post 53, and the National Honor Society.

We have also had many teams from town organizations and businesses: Darien Chamber of Commerce, Darien Boards of Education & Finance, Darien Library, Noroton Fire Dept. and TD Bank just to name a few!
Bee creative
Put your own teams together from your book club, gourmet club, neighborhood or gym friends.
We anticipate spaces filling up quickly, so reserve your spot early. (Registration materials can be found in links at the Depot website.)
Bee a Sponsor
If you prefer not to spell but would still like to participate, you may sponsor a team on your own or with a group of friends.
Bee a Worker Bee
There are also many ways you can help to make the Spelling Bee a success (see The Depot website for more information on that). We are always looking for more help for set-up, day of event and take-down.
Bee a Donor
Donate an item for the door prizes that we give away to the audience at the Spelling Bee.
The Bee does not involve solo spelling. Each team within the round spells the word simultaneously. The emcee announces the word and the teams have 25 seconds to discuss and write down their answers. At the bell, teams hold up their boards, if the word is spelled correctly they continue on.
Teams, sponsors and donors will be recognized in the Bee program and a plaque acknowledging the winning team will hang in The Depot for years to come. Please join in for an exciting, fun and rewarding afternoon to benefit The Depot Youth Center!
