Fax Alerts Darien Police to Dog Bite Incident
It was a most unusual way to get word of an incident for police.

A person and another dog were bitten in separate Darien incidents over the past week.
Person Bit by Dog
Generally police are alerted to incidents by phone, over the radio or in-person, but they recently found out about a dog bite incident via fax.

A medical group faxed Darien Police a report regarding a dog bite incident on Sept. 3.
Police followed-up and talked to the victim on the phone who said that he was bit while working at a Plymouth Road residence.

He was working in a back yard and the dog belonged on the property. A resident told him the dog would be locked in a kitchen area while he worked, police said.
Apparently another resident accidentally let the dog out and it bit the man in the leg.
The dog was given a usual quarantine order. The owner had all the proper paperwork for vaccinations and registration, police said.
Dog Attacks Other Dog
A woman took her dog to the animal hospital after it was attacked by another dog while out for a walk, police said.
The woman was walking on Brookside near Old Kings Highway North on Sept. 6 during the afternoon with Bella, her mixed-breed dog.
Two other females described as “smaller” were walking a white and brown Akita.
She heard one of the women yell and saw the Akita run towards her and bite Bella on the back legs. She was able to separate the dogs for a moment, but then the Akita bit Bella in the neck.
Eventually she broke up that fight and the two girls came over and got control of their dog, police said.
The woman quickly left with Bella to go to the VCA in Norwalk.
Bella sustained several puncture wounds, but is expected to make a full recover.
The Darien Animal Control Officer is following up the investigation to try and identify the Akita.
