Fire Log: Accidents, Fuel Leaks, and a Smoke Scare

The following information was provided by the :

MONDAY, AUG. 8

• Smoke Odor: The , , and were called to respond to a smoke odor at 2 Devon Rd. around 4:47 p.m. Nothing unusual was found at the scene, however.

TUESDAY, AUG. 9

• Fire alarms: The DFD, NHFD, and NFD were called to respond to two different fire alarm activations at Darien Town Hall around 3:04 p.m. and 3:19 p.m. In both cases, however, the alarm was found to have to been malfunctioning.
• Motor vehicle accident: The NHFD and DFD were called to respond to a motor vehicle accident/injury at I-95 north exit 13 around 4:45 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 10

• Motor vehicle accident: The NHFD, DFD, and NHFD were called to respond to a motor vehicle accident/injury at Post Rd. and Mansfield Ave. around 4:41 p.m.
• Motor vehicle accident: The NHFD was called to respond to a motor vehicle accident/fuel leak in front of 334 West Ave. around 5:39 p.m.

THURSDAY, AUG. 11

• Motor vehicle accident: The NHFD was called to respond to a motor vehicle accident/injury at I-95 north between exits 11 and 12 around 10:57 a.m.
• Service call: The DFD responded to a service call at the I-95 north Darien Service Plaza around 8:00 p.m. Two vehicles at the scene were reported to be leaking fluid.
• Motor vehicle accident: The DFD was called to respond to a motor vehicle accident/injury at the intersection of Old Kings Highway N and Darien Close around 9:03 p.m.

FRIDAY, AUG. 12

• Motor vehicle accident: The NHFD was called to respond to a motor vehicle accident/injury at 370 Heights Rd. around 7:49 a.m.
• Smoke scare: The NHFD was called to respond to a smoke scare at 10 Ledge Rd. around 5:29 p.m. The source was determined ot be smoke from a nearby barbecue grill.

SATURDAY, AUG. 13

• Fuel spill: The DFD was called to the I-95 north Darien Service Plaza around 9:03 a.m. to respond to a vehicle leaking fuel from its tank.
• Boat fire: The NFD was called to the Cockenoe Island area around 20:33 to assist the Westport Fire Department with a major boat fire. The NFD's boat was turned around en route to the scene, however, .

SUNDAY, AUG. 14

• Carbon monoxide alarm: The NHFD was called to respond to a carbon monoxide alarm activation at 15 Abbey Rd. around 9:15 p.m. No unusual readings were found at the scene, however.

• 5 malfunctioning fire alarms
• 4 canceled fire alarms
• 2 fire alarms triggered by contractors
• 1 fire alarm triggered by leaking water
