Former Darien Financial Advisor Sentenced for $1.2 Million Theft
His main victim was an elderly and infirm client. He also defrauded two other people.

DARIEN, CT—A former Darien financial advisor was sentenced to 41 months in prison for stealing more than $1.2 million from an elderly client.
Robert Tricarico, 60, will also have three years of supervised release after his federal prison sentence.
Tricarico was a registered securities broker with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and was previously employed by various financial firms including RNT Wealth Management, Northstar Wealth Partners, LPL Financial, and Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.
From January 2010 to June 2013 he was a financial advisor to an elderly and infirm man with substantial assets. He misappropriated funds by writing numerous checks to himself or for his benefit without the victim's authorization.
He also liquidated a coin collection.
Two additional victims were defrauded of $20,000. He told the victims that he would use the money for a business venture with a guaranteed rate of return, but it was instead used for personal reasons.
Tricarico pleaded guilty in June 2016 to one count of wire fraud and was free on bond until Wednesday. He is now in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
