Former Darien Football Coach Granted Accelerated Rehab
Charges of DUI and assault on a police officer could be cleared after the diversionary programs are finished.

DARIEN, CT - A former Darien High School football coach was granted diversionary programs for his criminal case where he was charged with DUI and assault on a police officer in October 2013.
Christian Garnett, 34, was arrested after police allegedly found him driving on three tires on Connecticut Avenue. He failed a field sobriety test and caused a Norwalk police officer to injure her knee and ankle while she was putting him in handcuffs, police said.

Garnett applied for Accelerated Rehabilitation and Alcohol Education Program, according the Norwalk Hour. A judge granted him the programs and his charges will be dismissed if he successfully completes them.
Garnett was tasered twice during the incident and was hit in the face by an officer during the struggle, police said.

Garnett filed a civil suit against the officers involved in the incident, alleging excessive force after his eye socket was fractured and he required a titanium face implant, according to the Norwalk Hour.
