Former Darien Selectman Marc Thorne Dies
Thorne, who also previously served on the Representative Town Meeting, passed away on Monday.
DARIEN, CT — Former Darien Selectman Marc Thorne, a long-time resident who served in Darien government for decades, passed away on Monday, First Selectman Jayme Stevenson announced.
"There are certain people whose warm presence you can always count on and Marc and Barbara Thorne are two of those people," Stevenson wrote in an email to town officials and staff she shared with Patch.
"They care so deeply for our community and each other and have been an inspiration and role model for so many. Marc will be profoundly missed. Please pray for Barbara and the Thorne Family."

The Darien Times writes that Thorne died after suffering a severe stroke on Sunday.
During his tenure serving the town, in addition to the Board of Selectmen Thorne also served on the Representative Town Meeting, and the Pear Tree Point Beach Building Committee, among others.

He also was active in the Darien Men's Association and First Congregation Church of Darien.
