Beginning this year, Gemm Learning is offering six new “Fast ForWord®” scholarships for students in grades K through 12 who reside in Fairfield County. This scholarship is available to younger children who have been diagnosed with a learning difficulty such as auditory processing disorder (also known as CAPD or APD for short), dyslexia, inattentive ADD (ADHD-PI) and autism. Applicants with other challenges including traumatic brain injury (TBI) will also be considered.

Recipients of the “Fast ForWord“ scholarship will gain access to Gemm Learning’s innovative, at-home learning curriculum, which leverages the world-renowned and highly effective Fast ForWord software. The 4-month program will include professional, remote oversight by Gemm Learning’s educational professionals as well as weekly progress reports. Students will be expected to work on exercises at home four days per week and in-center (Westport, CT) one day per week. When in-center, students will work one-on-one with Gemm Learning’s expert program managers and participate in a variety of group learning activities.

Gemm Learning programs, which adapt to the individual student, use neuroscience principles to treat the source of learning difficulties once and for all. The exercises—disguised as computer games—target language processing, phonemic awareness and other cognitive skill gaps that cause almost 90% of reading and learning problems. Students that adhere to the individualized program plan set forth by their Gemm Learning program managers average a 2-year reading gain in just 4 months.
