Connecticut Weather: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms, Flooding Concerns Friday

Today is a good day to stay indoors in Connecticut. Here's the latest on today's miserable weather and what to expect this weekend.

Friday is a good day to stay home and binge watch your favorite television show, read a book or just do anything that doesn’t involve heading outdoors in Connecticut. The rain will be very heavy at times on Friday, and there may be some thunderstorms too. Before the rain ends early Saturday parts of the state could see up to 3 inches, and we may have to deal with flooding concerns too.

The National Weather Service issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for the entire state Friday as heavy rain may lead to some flooding in low-lying areas today, and there is a “marginal to slight risk for flash flooding” in southern Connecticut.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan writes, “Heavy rain this afternoon - with 1"-2" in any locations. There is the potential for 3" totals in a handful of towns which would be enough to lead to some minor flooding. We'll be watching.” (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, “It's a rainy Friday forecast! Heavy rain midday into the afternoon with thunder and lightning. Some minor flooding possible. The temperature is going to feel chilly today & it will get into the 60s tomorrow. I'm not expecting a lot of rain over the weekend. It will not be a washout but there could be a scattered shower from time to time.”

At least Hanrahan offers us some good news. “Most of tomorrow will be dry - best chance for rain in the morning and again toward evening. Mainly clouds skies expected, however.”
