Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Connecticut

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for Connecticut Friday as heavy rain could lead to some flooding concerns but the good news is that the rain is expected to end beginning around noon and we may even see some sun this afternoon.

The National Weather Service said for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties that “Heavy rainfall this morning may lead to areal flooding, mainly for urban and poor drainage areas. There is a chance of flash flooding.”

For Hartford and Tolland counties, the weather service states, “There is potential for heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms south of the Mass Turnpike this morning.”

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said Friday morning, “Mainly light rain across the state this morning - but there are some embedded downpours. At least for now the risk for flooding is low but we'll have to watch how this all evolves later this morning. It begins winding down after noon from west to east.”

There is good news about the weekend forecast as the chance for showers has dissipated for Saturday and we could even see sun. Sunday looks like a great summer day.

Here’s the updated forecast via the National Weather Service:

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms ending by early afternoon. Sun later in the day. Temps near 75.

Saturday: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning and then partly sunny skies and temps in the mid 80s.

Sunday: Sun, temps in the low 80s.

The week ahead: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday look sunny, and Tuesday looks possibly stormy.
