DARIEN, CT — The Hindley, Holmes and Royle Building Committee will update the Darien Board of Selectmen on its funding needs following the news that the price tag to renovate the three elementary schools will significantly increase.

Darien Times reported this week that following a second round of construction bids, renovations for Hindley, Holmes and Royle are expected to cost close to $100 million, up from the $82 million that was originally allocated, and the $68 million estimate during the design phase.

The renovations will include the removal of portable classrooms and the addition of new classroom wings, libraries and playgrounds, Darien Times noted.
