Hindley Elementary School Principal To Resign

Superintendent of Darien Public Schools Dr. Alan Addley announced the resignation Monday evening.

DARIEN, CT — Keri Snowden, principal of Hindley Elementary School for the past three years, will resign from her position effective March 29, according to Superintendent of Darien Public Schools Dr. Alan Addley.

Snowden will leave Darien to become the director of teaching, learning and assesment in Regional School District 12, which covers Washington, Bridgewater and Roxbury, Addley said in an email to the school community Monday evening.

"This new position provides Mrs. Snowden with an opportunity to transition to district leadership and is much closer to her home in Litchfield, CT," Addley explained. "We thank Mrs. Snowden for her dedicated service and effective leadership over the past three years and wish her continued success in her new educational endeavor. Mrs. Snowden’s start date in Region 12 is April 1, 2024."

Addley said it's "highly likely" the principal vacancy will be filled on an interim basis by a district administrator through June 30, given that it's almost March. Central Services will also provide additional support to staff at Hindley and the interim principal.

The permanent principal vacancy will be posted immediately, Addley said, with a start date of July 1.

"I will keep the Hindley Elementary School community apprised as we move through the processes of appointing an interim principal for the remainder of the school year and selecting a permanent principal who will start July 1, 2024," Addley said. "The District's priority will be to provide smooth transitions through the end of this year and for the start of the next school year for our families, staff and youngest learners. I will provide you with an update next week."
