Homeless Man Tried to Hit Darien Cop with Stick: PD
The incident began after police investigated a breach of peace incident.

DARIEN, CT- A man who reportedly caused a disturbance in Darien was later arrested after he tried to hit an officer with a stick.
Police responded to an address in the 2700 block on the Post Road April 17 around 5:17 p.m. on a report of a breach of peace incident.
A resident said a man came up to a driveway and inquired about whether certain items were free for the taking. Some furniture was being offered for free, but the resident said other items weren't, police said.

Robert Houseworth, 61, then began yelling at the resident.
Officers located Houseworth over the town line in Stamford. Houseworth claimed that the Darien officers had no jurisdiction because he was in Stamford and began to walk away.

An officer grabbed Houseworth's jacket to stop him, police said. Houseworth grabbed a metal stick that was on top of a fire hydrant and tried to hit the officer.
Houseworth was eventually arrested for interfering with an officer. The resident didn't want to press charges.
