'Honey Oil' Confiscated During Darien DUI Arrest: PD

The woman had a number of drug paraphernalia items in her vehicle, according to police.

DARIEN, CT—A strong substance that contains that active ingredient found in marijuana was seized during a traffic stop Oct. 13.

An officer on patrol around 12:30 a.m. noticed a vehicle had pulled over and had its hazard lights on on West Norwalk Road.

The officer approached suspecting the operator was in some kind of distress. The officer was hit with a strong odor of marijuana, police said.

Operator Margarit Mateo, 47, of Bronx, N.Y. couldn't locate her license and admitted to consuming a small amount of alcohol earlier in the night, according to police. She failed field sobriety tests.

Inside the vehicle police found rolling papers, four vaporizer cartridges containing a hash oil-like substance and 6.4 grams of suspected marijuana. Other paraphernalia was also found, police said. She admitted to possessing "honey oil" a strong substance containing THC.

Her license was suspended in New York state and the vehicle she was driving was from Enterprise. It had front right side damage that appeared new.

Police requested a urine sample, but she wasn't able to provide one, according to police.

She was charged with DUI, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle without a license.
