A Plan of Conservation and Development is an advisory document prepared by the Planning and Zoning Commission at least every ten years, which:

  • Establishes policies and goals for development
  • Protects the resources important to residents
  • Promotes the coordinated development of the Town
  • Guides growth and change in Darien
  • Identifies facilities and services (buildings and infrastructure) needed to support the community we want to be
  • The document is used by the Planning & Zoning Commission, Board of Selectmen, and other Town agencies.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for Darien residents to identify issues of concern to them and suggest priorities and strategies for the next Plan. Following the public meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission will be looking at identified issues and evaluating strategies to help guide the community in the future.

Darien residents are encouraged to come to the meeting to help ensure that the Plan of Conservation and Development reflects community goals. “This Plan is an important document which will be used to guide future conservation and development activity over the next decade and beyond,” said Susan Cameron, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

“The Town Plan will help us approach the future with clear vision and confidence. I encourage Darien residents to share their thoughts and ideas at this meeting” said Jayme Stevenson, First Selectman.
