Intoxicated Darien Woman Busted On Disorderly Conduct Charge: PD
The incident occurred on July 22 on Nearwater Lane in Darien.

DARIEN, CT — An intoxicated 54-year-old Darien woman was taken to Stamford Hospital for evaluation and issued a misdemeanor summons for disorderly conduct on July 22 after she allegedly threw a vase which injured someone during an incident in a home on Nearwater Lane, according to Darien police.
Arrested was Helen J. Bowtell, who police said allegedly had been "acting in an uncontrollable manner" throughout the day. Officers were called to the residence at about 7:25 p.m.
"Interviews with other parties in the home confirmed that Bowtell had been acting in an aggressive manner towards the victim for much of the day, in spite of the victim’s efforts to calm the situation by leaving the home," wrote Darien police in a statement. "It was relayed to officers that at one point during the day Bowtell left the residence, returning with several bottles of wine. An argument ensued, and the victim departed the home in an effort to diffuse the situation. Bowtell chased the victim down the driveway as the victim departed.

"Upon the victim’s return, Bowtell came from her bedroom increasingly intoxicated and began shouting
again. At this point she then threw a vase which smashed on the floor. The vase broke, causing several
cuts on the foot of another party in the home."
Officers attempted to interview Bowtell "but given her anger and aggressive state," the officers were unable
to ascertain her version of the incident, according to police.

"As officers began to escort Bowtell out of the residence, she became combative with officers and POST53
staff," wrote Darien police. "Due to her level of intoxication, Bowtell was transported to Stamford Hospital for evaluation."
Bowtell was released on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on July 23.
