Intoxicated Darien Youth Taken to Hospital: PD

A juvenile was charged in connection with the incident.

DARIEN, CT — A Darien juvenile was issued a summons after another juvenile became so intoxicated that she had to be taken to the hospital, according to police.Police were dispatched to a Gardiner Street residence around midnight April 15 and found a heavily intoxicated 16-year-old girl.

Her father picked her up from a Shady Acres Road residence several minutes earlier after she asked him for a ride. She was transported to the hospital by Darien EMS for treatment because she was in a "semi-conscious" state.

Police went to the remnants of the party to check on the safety of other youths and found seven 30-packs of beer along with a small amount of marijuana, police said. A male juvenile was found to be intoxicated and was released to his parents.

The juvenile resident met with the Darien Police Youth detectives and parents days later. He was issued a summons for providing alcohol to minors, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to appear in court May 2.
