Items Stolen From Cars Parked In Darien: Police

DARIEN, CT — Wallets, a purse, an iPad and other items were reported stolen from vehicles parked in Darien last week, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Dan Skoumbros said a Lake Drive resident reported two wallets and a purse containing several bank cards were missing from their vehicle early the morning of Nov. 3. According to Skoumbros, the vehicle was unlocked at the time of the burglary.

That same morning, officers received a report of people attempting to gain entry to a vehicle parked on Lake Drive. During a neighborhood canvass, officers spoke with a resident who reported a burglary from an unlocked 2018 Toyota Highlander, however nothing was reported missing, Skoumbros said.

Also that morning, a Relihan Road resident reported his wallet with bankcards stolen from his 2013 Honda CRV. The resident said the vehicle was parked unlocked in an attached garage, which must have been left open overnight, Skoumbros said. He also noted there were two fraudulent pending charges on his bankcards.

Later that day, a Walmsley Road resident reported a burglary from his 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which had been left unlocked in his driveway at 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 2. The owner noticed around 10:30 a.m. the following morning the glove compartment was open and an iPhone charger was missing, Skoumbros said.

On Nov. 4, a Coachlamp Lane resident reported his 2011 Nissan Frontier had been entered sometime overnight. The owner said the vehicle had been left unlocked and his briefcase containing a MacBook computer and an iPad was missing, Skoumbros said.
