Here are the closings to be aware of during the end-of-summer holiday in Darien.

DARIEN, CT — Whether you're ready or not, the unofficial end of summer is approaching. The Labor Day holiday weekend might be some consolation for the end of your summer relaxation, but that means some services will be shut down for the long weekend of Sept. 1-3.
Darien government and schools will observe the following holiday schedule:
- Town Offices, Schools - closed
- Libraries - closed
- Liquor, Grocery and Retail Stores - Most stores will be open; check individually for hours.
- Refuse/recycling pickup* - no collection Monday. Collection will slide by one day.
- Transfer Station - open normal hours Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.
- State, Federal Courts and Offices - closed
- Banks, Post Office - closed
*Many communities do not have municipal garbage/recycling pickup but do have private pickup, which may consider making a special trip on the holiday. Check with your private hauler.
