Local Nonprofits Awarded Grants From The Community Fund of Darien’s Youth Community Fund
The Youth Community Fund is a student-led program comprised of 65 high school students from Darien who are passionate about giving back.

DARIEN, CT — The Community Fund of Darien’s Youth Community Fund (YCF) awarded $15,500 in grants to 15 local nonprofit organizations as part of its 2025 grant-making cycle, according to an announcement from the organization.
YCF is a student-led program comprised of 65 high school students from Darien who are passionate about learning the power of philanthropy and giving back to their community.
Throughout the school year, YCF members volunteer with local nonprofits, learn about the needs of their community, and raise funds to increase their grant pool to support selected nonprofit organizations.

After months of careful review, including evaluating grant applications and conducting site visits, the students reached a consensus to award funding to the following 15 organizations:
- Abilis – $1,250
- At Home In Darien – $500
- Boys & Girls Club of Stamford – $1,250
- Building One Community – $1,500
- Children’s Learning Centers – $1,500
- Domestic Violence Crisis Center – $1,000
- Filling in the Blanks – $1,000
- Future 5 – $1,250
- Inspirica – $1,500
- Kids In Crisis – $1,000
- Liberation Programs – $1,500
- New Covenant Center – $750
- Open Doors – $1,000
- Person to Person – $500
"This process gives students a firsthand understanding of the impact of philanthropy and the important role nonprofits play in our communities," said Lisa Haas, Community Fund grants director and Youth Community Fund leader, in a prepared statement. "Empowering youth to engage in real-world philanthropy ensures that the next generation understands both the challenges our communities face and the power they have to make a difference."
